The 45 rooms of the Hotel Miramare overlook the bay of the small port of Castiglioncello and the centenary Marradi pine forest. These are historic rooms, where politicians, people from the aristocracy, artists of the whole 20th century stayed. Among all, we remember the Prime Minister Winston Churchill in room 37, the actress Marta Abba in room 23, the playwright Luigi Pirandello in room 24 (facing the historic partner), the artistic director Mario Missiroli in room 26, the actors Marcello Mastroianni at room 10 and Alberto Sordi in room 38.
In September 1962 the Hotel Miramare hosted the cast of “Il Sorpasso” including the director Dino Risi in room 37, the actor Vittorio Gassman in room 82 and actress Catherine Spaak in room 49.
On 19 August 1984 the senator, and then Minister of the Interior, Giovanni Spadolini recalled the value and tenacity of resistance in a historic speech in front of the citizens. That day, a commemorative plaque was, and still is, displayed at the entrance of the Hotel.
In the following years until today, the Hotel has managed to preserve the charm and sobriety of the past, giving peace and serenity to those who want to spend days relaxing and contemplating the sea, savoring history.
